We are putting together a PhD application to study the effect of antibiotics on soil community composition. For this call, the proposal needs to include a suitable candidate, who needs to be based in the UK. Funding is for 4 years and will cover home student tuition fees and stipend (set at the standard research council rate).

The overarching objective of this proposal is to determine the effect of antibiotics on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in soil communities (i.e. the resistome), the soil community composition, community function, and evolution.

The PhD candidate will be based at the University of East Anglia in the group of Dr Marcela Hernandez. The secondary supervisor will be Dr Marc Dumont at the University of Southampton.

Interested candidates should contact Dr Marcela Hernández at marcela.hernandez@uea.ac.uk with a cover letter (one page) and CV (one page).
